Stairlifts represent a significant financial investment. For many people, this can be a real barrier to making a purchase that could significantly improve their quality of life. This is very unfortunate, but at UK Stairlifts we can help by offering information on how to purchase the cheapest reliable one.
Reconditioned stairlifts offer savings over new versions but they can still be expensive. So, some people still might not be able to afford them. However they shouldn’t give up.
Rental A Viable Alternative
Stair lift rental has emerged as a viable alternative to purchasing a brand new stairlift. If you decide to rent, you do still get a few unique advantages that owning one would not give.
Firstly, there are no draw-backs in terms of the technology available to you as a renter. You can rent both straight and curved stairlifts and even choose from the latest models (depending who you rent with).
For instance, at UK Stairlifts we offer the Stannah rental package. It is a comprehensive rental program and we will draw on some of the advantages of stairlift rental. Such as it’s cost advantage, service and support advantages and its flexibility.
As previously mentioned, the first and probably most crucial advantage for most people, is cost. Renting does not not cost you as much money upfront. For example when you use Stannah, you pay a deposit (which varies depending on the lift you pick) which covers the installation and future removal of the lift and the administration of the agreement.
You then pay a monthly rental fee, again based on the type of stairlift you have chosen. So, this arrangement is ideal for people who need a stairlift over a short period. It is also ideal for those who cannot raise the money to purchase outright. If this is you and you are sure a stairlift is absolutely essential, you should rent.
Service & Support
Another major advantage of rental is service and support. If you rent from Stannah for example, the stairlift is covered by their warranty program for the life of the rental. So if you experience any problems, you are completely covered.
Thus, this level of protection can off-set the long-term cost of a rental. If you have bought new, when your initial warranty expires you are liable for any cost associated with the stairlifts servicing and repair. You can purchase extended warranties but with a rental, there is no need. Thus, the rental is the better option in terms of service and support.
Finally, rental offers flexibility. For instance, the Stannah program does not require you to sign up for a fixed term and you only pay a month’s rent in advance. If you need to cancel, you can do so at any time. Whereas, this is not possible for buying outright. For example, if you outright bought a stairlift that you didn’t like for any reason, you would have wasted lots of money. Not to mention it would cost to remove it.
